About me

Alaina van Horn currently serves as the Chief of the Intellectual Property Enforcement (IPE) Branch where she is responsible for administering CBP’s IP border enforcement efforts in interdicting counterfeit and infringing goods before they enter the U.S. stream of commerce. Ms. van Horn has conducted capacity building trainings on border enforcement of intellectual property rights to over fifty foreign governments, international organizations, and domestic audiences in both the public and private sectors, and holds the leadership position of Chair of the FTZ Experts Group at the OECD Working Party on Countering Illicit Trade.

Using New Technology to Combat Counterfeits: Brands Working with Customs

US Customs and Border Protection recently accepted a donation of the AGMA One Device, an authentication tool being used at key ports to assist in identifying and stopping counterfeits. The panel will explore what the technology is, how it is being used, and how companies can be involved. The panel will include representatives of major brands to provide concrete examples of how the technology has changed the enforcement landscape, and explore additional approaches used by Pharma brands to take a new approach to the standard enforcement models.
