About me

Grant is the Founder and Principal Consultant at Smarter and Safer Products, a specialist consultancy dedicated to making products smarter and safer through digital innovation. His clients include brand owners, solution providers, NGOs, and consultancies. He is currently consulting for UNICEF as Technical Lead, overseeing the deployment of the TRVST traceability system. Grant previously spent 24 years in the healthcare industry at GlaxoSmithKline, holding roles across manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial operations. He served for a decade as an elected member of the GS1 Global Healthcare Leadership Team, leading strategies to accelerate adoption of global standards to improve patient safety and reduce healthcare costs. During this time, he also co-chaired the GS1 Healthcare Public Policy Group, advising regulators on the implementation of global standards. More recently, Grant co-chaired GS1’s Digital Link Standard Development Team, helping create standards to web-enable products. He now collaborates with organisations including Google, GS1, and UNICEF to deploy these standards and advance digital e-leaflets that transform access to product information. His work has been recognised with several industry awards, including the Pan African Supply Chain Awards for Innovation in Pharmaceutical Supply Chain, the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Award for combating counterfeit medicines in Nigeria, and the Best Pharmacy Initiative Award for contributions to the Falsified Medicines Directive anti-counterfeiting model.
