About me

Grant is the founder and Principal Consultant at Smarter and Safer Products, a specialised consulting firm dedicated to making products both smarter and safer through digital innovation. His clients span brand owners, solution providers, NGOs, and other consultancies. Currently, Grant is consulting for UNICEF as the technical lead, overseeing the deployment of their TRVST traceability system. With 24 years of experience in the healthcare industry at GlaxoSmithKline, Grant has held roles across manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial operations. He served for a decade as an elected member of the GS1 Global Healthcare Leadership Team, where he spearheaded strategies to promote the adoption of global standards, enhancing patient safety and reducing healthcare costs worldwide. During this tenure, he also co-chaired the GS1 Healthcare Public Policy group, advocating for and advising regulators on the implementation of global standards. Most recently, he co-chaired GS1’s Digital Link Standard Development team, creating innovative standards to web-enable products. He is now collaborating with Google, GS1, and UNICEF to deploy these standards and advance the development of digital e-leaflets, revolutionizing access to product information. Grant’s contributions have been recognised with prestigious industry awards, including the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Award for his efforts in combating counterfeit medicines in Nigeria and the Best Pharmacy Initiative award for his role in the Falsified Medicines Directive anti-counterfeiting model.
