Sanjay Rathee

Sanjay Rathee, PhD, is an Associate Director in Data Science & AI (Oncology R&D) at AstraZeneca. He builds and deploys machine learning, NLP, and agentic AI systems that support evidence discovery and clinical decision workflows, with a focus on transparency, provenance, and audit readiness in regulated environments. Prior to industry, he worked as a Machine Learning Scientist at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, where he developed methods for biomarker discovery and translational analytics. He has published in venues including eBioMedicine (The Lancet) and has received competitive funding, including an Alan Turing Institute grant supporting dementia research. He holds a PhD in Computing Sciences and Engineering, with research focused on scalable machine learning.
